1. Introduction
The Internet Phone Module delivers all the internet phone (Voice over IP, VoIP)
benefits that other internet phone providers deliver PLUS a lot of extra
unique benefits that no one else have.
Internet Phone Module supports more
internet phone types (hardware or
software) than another internet phone providers.
In additional to superiority in dealing with internet phones, the
Internet Phone Module also provides superior integration with normal
phone networks and value-added phone networks than other internet phone
providers.

To use the Internet Phone Module, people simply dial the destination phone number
they wanted to call on a hardwrae or software internet phone. The destination phone
number dialed will determine which normal phone, internet phone or value-added
phone to connect to.

The Internet Phone Module provides the same interface, same authentication,
same account and consistent destination phone numbers across all 3 networks
seamlessly.
Unlike other internet phone (Voice over IP, VoIP) offerings,
the Internet Phone Module has an
intelligent backend giving its users much more features
yet at lower costs than any other internet phone offering.
1.1 Background
The Internet Phone Module enables users of
internet based phone technologies to take advantage of the
Net2MAX platform.

Together with the Local Phone Module
and the Access Phone Module, they provide a
complete telephone access solution to and from Net2MAX.
2. Superiority
The Internet Phone Module delivers all the internet phone (Voice over IP, VoIP)
benefits that other internet phone providers deliver PLUS a lot of extra
unique benefits that no one else have.
2.1 Self Selection
An advantage of Internet Phone Module is your ability to pick your own phone
number. You can make it the same as your normal phone number (mobile
or landline) or any other easy to remember or well known number.
Your Internet Phone Number is simply your OZnumber with 899 and
your Area Code added in front. So, if your Area Code is 060 and
your OZnumber is 12345 then your Internet Phone Number is 89906012345.
You ability to select your OZnumber means you can also select your
own Internet Phone Number.
Just enter the Internet Phone Number (and some related dialing
information) into the Internet Phone of your choice and you can
make calls from your Internet Phone to other Internet Phones as
well as make calls to Normal Phones. You can also receive calls
from both Internet Phones and Normal Phones.
People calling you from the same area (say 060) can optionally
NOT put in the Area Code when calling you. So, they can enter just
89912345 rather than 89906012345 in order to ring your Internet
Phone.
2.2 Multiple Protocols
Another advantage of Internet Phone Module is your ability to switch between
different Internet Phone protocols and codec dynamically (from the
web). Net2MAX offers the widest selection of Internet Phone protocols
of any Internet Phone network in the world, allowing you to communicate
with more people on different phone devices and networks.

Currently supported Internet Phone protocols include SIP, IAX, Personal
Softphone (with H323, Mbone, SCCP and MGCP protocols available on request). Currently
supported CODEC includes iLBC, GSM, G729, Speex, G726, G711, H261 and
H263.
3.4 Other Internet Phone Software
Internet Phone Number works with a lot of non-SIP based
Internet Phone Software via SIP gateways.
OZtell has partnership with Jajah (a Skype compatible Internet
Phone program).
Details on OZtell's version of Jajah is available by
Clicking HERE.
Note you are using Jajah's network and not OZtell network
when you make calls through Jajah.
Jajah has Skype compatibility, integrated
video and text messaging. It is the preferred program for
those who want such abilities.
2.3 Public Account
Yet another advantage of Internet Phone Module is availability of
free public accounts and software, allowing anyone on the internet
(with or without internet phone accounts) to call you for free -
anywhere in the world - using any SIP compatible hardware or software
VoIP phones.
Please refer to Public Account
for details.
2.4 Personal Softphone
Internet Phone Module give you the ability to create your very
own personal softphone! You can then give to friends, family,
customers etc.
With personal softphone, your own phone number can be set as the
default phone number, so anyone on the internet (with or without
internet account, with or without internet phone) can call you
free from anywhere in the world by just clicking on the dial button.
They do not need to configure or enter anything, just one click
and your phone will ring!
Please refer to Personal Softphone
for details.
2.5 Value-Added Modules
The major advantage of Internet Phone Module over another
internet phone services is of course its ability to integrate
with a large number of Value-Added Modules.
Together they create a new class of online services that is
far superior
than any other in the world.
3. Charges

4. Usage
Net2MAX's Internet Phone Module supports a wider range of internet
phone types then any other internet phone service provider:
3. Internet Phone Hardware
2. Internet Phone Hardware
Most SIP or IAX compatible Voice over IP (VoIP) handsets on the market
will work with your Internet Phone Number. These VoIP handsets provide
a low cost yet simple way for people to connect voice devices onto the
Internet WITHOUT the need of a computer.
While most VoIP handsets will work with the Internet Phone Module, to ensure rapid and
hassle free deployment, OZtell also supply a limited range of preconfigured
and pretested VoIP handsets directly to our customers. Please refer to the
Price List for pricing details.

There are generally two types of handsets, 1 LAN-port Handsets and 2 LAN-port
Handsets.
With the 1 LAN-port VoIP handset the user need to plug it into a spare Internet
LAN-port so to attach the phone to the internet.
With the 2 LAN-port VoIP handset there is no need to have a spare Internet
LAN-port available. Unplug an existing internet computer from its internet LAN port
and plug that computer into the first LAN-port of the VoIP handset, then connect
the second LAN-port on the VoIP handset to the internet LAN port left vacant by the
removal of the computer from it. This way the computer and the handset shares a
single Internet LAN port.
Setup:
There is NO Hardware set up, if the VoIP handset is
supplied by OZtell.
All VoIP handsets supplied by us go through our 4-step
precondition process before being ship out to you:
- updates it to the latest firmware
- presets it with your login information
- preconfigures it to work with your router via DHCP
- tests it on the Internet link in our lab with your login
so in most cases you just plug it in and start calling!
However, if you did not obtain your VoIP handset from OZtell, then
you should obtain support for it first from the place you obtain
your VoIP connector from. Most VoIP equipment suppliers have knowledge
of OZtell set ups or are customers of OZtell, so it is not difficult
for them to assist you with an OZtell set up. They can also use the
free OZtell SIP and IAX public accounts for any independent tests.
With hundreds of VoIP handset models and dozens of firmware revisions
for each of them, it is not possible for OZtell (indeed anyone) to provide
support for all of them. If your VoIP handset supplier cannot assist you
then it is best to post your problem in the
SIP Hardware Forum of OZtell's User Forums.
Given OZtell's large and technically advanced customer base, someone would most likely
have set up your particular VoIP handset already and will be able to provide asssistance.
Usage:
You simply pick up the phone and call. The only thing to remember
is all the phone numbers you enter MUST be international format (so must have country and
area code).
For example, to call a phone number 9217 6000 in Sydney, Australia
you must enter 61 2 9217 6000. Whether you are in Sydney or New York.
To speed up
dialing press # after you have entered the phone number. This way the phone does not have
to wait for time out to determine that you have finished entering the phone number.
Note, besides the standard country codes like 61 for Australia and 852 for Hong Kong etc.
We have 2 new country codes, 899 for Internet Phones and 898 for Web PABXs.
VoIP connectors provide one or more analog interfaces for analog telephones or cordless phones.
Customers supply these phones themselves and plug them into the VoIP Connector.
The VoIP Connector pretends to be the telephone network (e.g. Telstra), so the customer
can just plug any normal
phone handset (even analog PABXs) into it. It is no line installation or rental fee!
The internet link becomes one or more phone lines as well.

3. Internet Phone Software
The Internet Phone Number can be used with most SIP and IAX Internet
Phone Software. As well as the SoftDial Internet Phone Software.
It can also be used in propretr
that support like standard SIP, IAX and SoftDial.
Most SIP, IAX, H323 or Mbone compatible Voice over IP (VoIP) software on the market will
work with Internet Phone Module. These VoIP software allows people with some technical skills
to make and receive phone calls on an Internet connected multimedia computer.
The quality of the call is highly dependent on the setting of the computer.
Consistent good quality of can
be achieved after some tuning and careful control of other programs running
on the same computer
at the time of call.
As seen from below, Internet Phone Programs are mostly free,
but the downside is complexity of set up and usage. If you are not technical then you can
try OZtell's own softphone, details of which are available by
Clicking Here.
3.1 SoftDial Software
SoftDial is the preferred Internet Phone software for beginners.
There is no set up, just download by
Clicking HERE on to
your desktop and start calling!

4. Legacy Protocols
4.1 H323 Protocol
4.2 Mbone Protocol
4.3 Browser Plugin
4.1 Legacy H323 Support
H323 support is no longer available to new customers.
It has been replaced by the SIP.
For the past 9 years, H323 is the main VoIP standard for the world.
It still has a large (but reducing) installed base in voice and
video phone calls and conferencing.
H323 Software List:H323 Set Up
User Name: Your OZnumber with 899060 in front.
H323 Gatekeeper: h323.oztralia.com
4.2 Legacy Mbone Support
Mbone support is no longer available to new customers.
It has been replaced by the SoftDial
program.
Mbone is based on IP multicasting. Internet Phone Module
provides reflectors so Mbone can work on the mostly unicast Internet. It is
mainly used for broadcast and conferencing involving a lot of people.
Mbone Software List:Mbone Set UpMbone Pass Code: Get it from Mbone page after logged-in.
Mbone Reflector: mbone.oztralia.com
4.3 Legacy Browser Plug-In Support
Internet Phone Browser Plug-Ins below (Web2talk and Active2talk) are no longer
available to new customers.
They have been replaced by the Web Dialing
feature of the SoftDial program.
Some people may not have access to any H323 or SIP compatible handsets
(like Cisco, Grandstream Handset) or programs (like X-Lite, MS Netmeeting
or MS Messenger), but they can still make
FREE live call to any normal phone or Internet phone via their
web browser.
Internet Phone function has two VoIP Browser
Plugins:
- Web2talk
Web Browser Plug-In (this only works on
MS Windows platform with Netscape and Internet Explorer browsers).
- Active2talk
Active X Component (this only works on MS Windows with Internet
Explorer browser). There is NO need for any special VoIP hardware or
VoIP software program, a small voice module will be downloaded into your web
browser.
Web2talk is very mature and can be used by people with
public IP addresses (not behind a NAT). Active2talk is still raw and unstable
but will enable people with private IP addresses (behind NAT) to
communicate.
Web2talk and Active2talk enable the companies to
provide international toll-free call to its customers, allowing customers
to make phone enquires for free wherever they are from their web browser.
Click on diagram below to enlarge:

As seen above, a web surfer
in China (using a Chinese version of Microsoft Internet Explorer) can surf
to our web site and access the Web2talk function.
After the Web2talk plugin
is loaded, it produce a small circle on the web page, clicking on that circle
will initiate a call to a predefined phone number (like the sales department of
the web site owner). Clicking the circle again will stop the call.
Web2talk is delivered as part of the Net2MAX Message Portal function.
The web caller can be anywhere on the Internet with a browser, whether she or
he is next door or across the world does not matter.
